Karen Shinskie is the Founder and Principal Attorney at the Shinskie Law Group. She is a distinguished graduate of the Harvard Law School (class of 2000) where she was on the editorial board of the Harvard Civil Rights - Civil Liberties Law Review. Ms. Shinskie has 13 years of trial experience as a former prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia and a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice. She has handled hundreds of cases and has been the lead attorney in more than 40 trials before judges and juries in the D.C. Superior Court. After resigning from federal service in 2013, Ms. Shinskie has focused on family law in the District of Columbia. She is a volunteer attorney with the D.C. Superior Court Family Law Self-Help Center. In her practice, she handles the full-range of family law matters, including: divorce, child custody, child support, adoption, prenuptial and post nuptial agreements, paternity adjudication, military divorce, federal government divorce, legal separation, and third-party custody. She lives in the D.C. area with her husband Andy, who is an Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, and their three sons. Ms. Shinskie has specialized experience in D.C.
